Results :    2009 Ancram Fire Company Benefit

Boston Corner—Sixty-four  golfers teed-off in the 21^st Annual Ancram Fire Company Benefit Golf Tournament held Sunday, August 9 at Undermountain Golf Course. This year’s winner John MacArthur, Ancram scored 66  in regulation play. Mr. MacArthur was part of a group of firemen from Ancram who initiated the fund-raiser 21 years ago.  No one drove home in the GMC pick sponsored by Ruge’s GMC, Copake for a hole-in-one on Undermountain’s 9^th hole. The closest tee shot came within 9 feet 4 inches from holing out was carded by Jeff Dunlavey, Millerton. Competition is flighted in three divisions based on USGA handicaps. Winner of the second flight was Steve Balducci, Hillsdale with a score of 72. Third flight honors went to “OB” O’Brien, Colebrook, CT with a 77. MacArthur’s name will be added to the perpetual trophy in Undermountain’s Clubhouse

A barbecue dinner prepared by the member of  Ancram Fire Company and Ladies’ Auxiliary followed the golf.  Eighty  golfers and their guests sampled clams, shrimp and Ancram’s famous barbecued chicken, along with homemade potato salad, fresh picked sweet corn and baked beans.

“Proceeds from the tournament should exceed $3,000 this year,” states Co-chairperson Terry Bryant.  “Our success is due largely to the continuous support leant the Fire Company by area business. 

The Fire Company members thanked the Shakshober family for hosting the tournament for the past twenty-one years.
